It was announced today that Pabst Blue Ribbon will return as the Official Beer of the Charlotte Roller Girls, the Queen City’s newest sports property. The partnership, which began last year, runs through the 2009 season.
“We are proud to continue our relationship with Pabst Blue Ribbon,” said Charlotte Roller Girls president Cress Barnes a.k.a. Lucy Kwipment. “As an organization, we strive to bring value to our partners and are ecstatic that they were pleased with our efforts. In 2009, we look forward to a larger program, one which brings us closer to our fans.”
In addition to offering its product at all Charlotte Roller Girls home bouts, Pabst will hold pre-bout events at various locations throughout the city. These events will feature player appearances, free swag and ticket giveaways.
Pabst Brewing Company, makers of Pabst Blue Ribbon, is an American company which was founded in 1844. Headquartered in Woodridge, Illinois, the company is known for finding clever ways to target its growing customer base through the surreptitious sponsorship of indie music concerts, local businesses, dive bars and non traditional sports teams like the Charlotte Roller Girls.
“Last season, our relationship with the Charlotte Roller Girls proved to be a huge asset,” said Bruce Harrison, State Manager for Pabst Brewing Company. “When the opportunity was presented to extend our partnership, we didn’t hesitate. Just like roller derby fans, our customers come from all walks of life. It’s a perfect fit.”
