WFTDA: CLTRG is currently a Class B member in the Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby Association. WFTDA is the main governing body of roller derby and their rules are the ones we abide by. A full version of Rules can be found on their site. PLEASE take the time to read these rules before you attend your first practice! You can also find their skills assessment guidelines, which we follow.
Beginner’s Info: Also known as the “Fresh Meat Files”. This site contains a good list of the gear you need, and walks you through what to look for when buying your first pair of quad skates.
DNN: Derby News Network is the equivalent of ESPN for roller derby. It’s all derby, all the time. This site tracks the top teams in the nation, and is a also a gathering ground for derby girls worldwide.
Two Evils: Picking your name is one of the most exciting parts of becoming a real live roller girl! This website is the world-wide database of all derby names. Per WFTDA rules & regulations, no two girls (or guys) can have the same name registered. So, visit this site and read through some of the awesome names that you can’t have. Use it to get an idea of awesome names you want. Once you’ve attended 20 practices, our VP will submit your name to Two Evils for approval.
Gear & Other Fun Stuff
There are a ton of websites out there that sell skates, protective gear, and fun derby clothes. These are a few of our favorites.. Strongly consider buying your skates from the Pro-Shop at Kate’s. They’ll beat any price you find online AND help you maintain your purchase.
